A female black-chinned hummingbird constructs her nest with foraged items. Bits of leaves and sticks are cushioned by foraged feathers and held together with spider silk.

She takes great care in crafting it. After two other attempts, third time is the charm with her nest as it clings to one of the chandelier's arms.

She lays her eggs soon after she finishes its construction.

While the mother can longer be in the nest, she keeps a close eye on her young from the fence or in bushes.

As they get older they begin to peek over their nest and watch the world around them.

Soon both birds outgrow their nest.

They leave when they're ready.
